Office on Women's Health

Community Outreach

The OWH is represented on the Office of Cancer Control’s Cervical Cancer workgroup, which is developing a tool to gather information about the effectiveness of state policies and procedures used in routine wellness exams.

The OWH partners with other public and private non-profit organizations in consultations, projects, and information distribution, such as:

  • The Family Support Center of New Jersey.
  • The American College of Nurse Midwives.
  • Women Against Lung Cancer.
  • The Girl Scout Council of Bergen County Breast Cancer Run and Health Fair.

To foster professional networking and raise awareness about aspects of women’s health, the OWH attends conferences around the country. Some of these conferences include:

  • Women in Government, 12th Annual State Directors Conference (January, 2006)
The OWH presented New Jersey's cutting-edge work on the Women and Bleeding Disorder's Task force and emphasized the collaborative effort between government, physicians, and advocates on the task force.
  • Domestic Violence/Disabilities Conference (September, 2004)
Focused on the prevalence of violence against women with disabilities and strategized prevention and treatment issues for this population.
  • State Women’s Health Directors National Meeting (August, 2004)
Promoted networking and “best practice” programs among state offices.
  • Minority Women’s Health Summit (August, 2004)
Highlighted cultural diversity and cultural competency in addressing women’s health topics.
