Healthy New Jersey

Healthy New Jersey 2010 is New Jersey’s health agenda for the first decade of the 21st Century.

Developed in partnership with health care providers, educators, researchers, consumer advocacy groups and community organizations, the health agenda contains more than 140 objectives in broad areas of health.

These include improving health care access; preventing and reducing the impact of major diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and asthma; achieving better health in all age groups; and closing gaps in health status between whites and other racial and ethnic populations.

Government, non-profit agencies, community groups, professional organizations and others can use these objectives to identify needed services and develop programs to improve health.

The department’s Center for Health Statistics publishes reports tracking the state’s progress in achieving these objectives. The most recent is Healthy New Jersey 2010 Update 2005.
