Accelerating Progress in Obesity Prevention: Solving the Weight of the Nation
This Institute of Medicine report uses a systems-thinking approach to identify and highlight highlights strategies for obesity prevention that when implemented together, are predicted to accelerate progress on reducing obesity. (479 pages)

Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010
Report developed by the US Department of Agriculture and the US Department of Health and Human Services that provides recommendations for Americans for healthy eating (112 pages).

2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
Produced by the US Department of Health and Human Services, this report includes recommendations for physical activity as well as information about the health benefits of physical activity, ideas for being active every day, and guidance for avoiding injuries.

National Prevention Strategy
Released in June 2011 by the National Prevention Council, this comprehensive national strategy promotes the idea of health in all policies across multiple sectors to prevent chronic disease and to increase the length and quality of life for all Americans (125 pages).

Healthy New Jersey 2020
A clearinghouse of information related to New Jersey's strategic planning goals for health. The website provides access to the goals, objectives, status reports and Healthy New Jersey 2010 reports. The state goals link with the national Healthy People 2020 effort.

New Jersey Obesity Prevention Action Plan, 2006
A statewide plan, developed by New Jersey stakeholders, about future efforts to reduce and prevent obesity in New Jersey. Conducted in 2006, this plan was the springboard on which ONF and ShapingNJ were created.

Breastfeeding and New Jersey Maternity Hospitals: A Comparative Report
Produced the by the NJ Department of Health, Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology, this report summarizes the evidence for making changes in maternity hospitals in order to increase breastfeeding rates and provides methods and information for comparing maternity hospitals. (August 2013)

The Health of the Newest New Jerseyans: A Resource Guide
This report details the demographics of New Jersey's foreign-born population as well as examines how birthplace and race/ethnicity are associated with health. Information about health outcomes and health-related behaviors is included.
