MOMS READING FOR LOVE |
 |
New Jersey WIC Services has implemented WIC Moms Reading
for Love, a new reading program devoted to motivating
parents and caregivers to read to their young children.
WIC
Moms Reading for Love is in support of the Governor's
goal to have every New Jersey child reading at or above grade
level by the end of 3rd grade.
WIC Moms Reading for Love seeks parents, caregivers
and community members to volunteer to read to WIC children while
visiting the local WIC clinics. Parents and caregivers are encouraged
to read to their infants and children every day.
The
Garden State Discovery Museum has provided New Jersey WIC with
innovative WIC Moms Reading for Love training
opportunities and materials. Interested New Jersey WIC moms,
caregivers and volunteers have been provided with training and
guidance in reading techniques for use with small children.
Expanded
children’s book displays and reading areas, as well as
resources for additional WIC Moms Reading for Love
training, are available at the local WIC clinics.
