The office administers the New Jersey Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program (Charity Care) for people who are uninsured and underinsured, and also monitors hospital finances and performance.

Members of the public and hospital employees may contact us with questions about the Charity Care program, its implementation, and interpretation of program regulations and policy.  For program assistance or to report suspicions of fraud, you may call our toll-free hotline or contact us by email or regular mail.  Visit the Charity Care page for more information.
This office oversees the annual hospital charity care subsidy -- its distribution, calculation and source data -- including electronic claims processing, audits and reports.

The office monitors hospital finances and performance through financial reporting requirements, including annual hospital cost reports and audited financial statements, as well as quarterly financial reports and utilization reports.
