Prevention Quality Indicators (PQIs)

The Department of Health and Senior Services released its first report on Prevention Quality Indicators (PQIs) in August 2008. This report gives health professionals, policy makers and consumers one more tool they can use in making important health care decisions. The report includes background information on the AHRQ QI tools, disparities by county in preventable hospitalizations and definitions of the prevention quality indicators.

Releasing the report is consistent with the Department’s effort in public reporting of hospital quality performance as an important tool in advancing health care quality improvement.
