Health and Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard will discuss New Jersey’s expanded 2009 Hospital Performance Report on a teleconference press briefing on Wednesday, October 14, at 2 p.m.  This is the first report to include hospital-specific information on medical errors.

 

The report and related data charts will be available on the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services web site at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at www.nj.gov/health/hpr

 

Governor Jon S. Corzine signed legislation in 2009 requiring public reporting on 12 measures of patient safety – such as how often a foreign object was left inside surgical patients, and how often patients developed serious infections following surgery.

 

 The Hospital Performance Report also contains data on hospital quality of care in treating heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and in proper care of surgery patients.
