Health Commissioner to Visit Brick Township Flu Clinic to Encourage Vaccination

On Friday, October 10, New Jersey Health Commissioner Mary O'Dowd will join Ocean County Health Officer Daniel Regenye in Brick Township for a county flu clinic.

Commissioner O'Dowd will visit the clinic and receive a vaccination at 10:15 am.

The clinic will be held at the Lions Head North Clubhouse, 200 Courtshire Drive, Brick.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year. A flu shot is especially important for certain groups of individuals who are at higher risk of developing serious flu-related complications. These groups include: pregnant women, children under the age of five, but especially younger than 2 years old, people 65 years of age and older, and people with certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

The Ocean County Health Department is holding a series of flu vaccination clinics across the county.

For more information about influenza, including where to find vaccine, visit the New Jersey Department of Health's flu web page at www.nj.gov/health/flu and click on "Find a Flu Shot"
