TRENTON
- Dr. George T. DiFerdinando Jr., Acting New Jersey Commissioner
of Health and Senior Services today issued the following statement
following a conversation with Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Robert
S. Zimmerman, Jr.:
"I
am working closely with Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Zimmerman
and CDC officials regarding the Bucks County resident who is employed
by the Hamilton Township Post Office and has now tested positive
for cutaneous anthrax," said Dr. DiFerdinando.
"All
Hamilton Post Office employees - like this Pennsylvania resident
- who may have been exposed to anthrax will be included in any epidemiological
testing, no matter if they live in New Jersey, Pennsylvania or any
other state," said Dr. DiFerdinando. "The CDC has sent
a team to work with the Department, law enforcement and postal officials
on the further investigation and response to this situation. The
federal and state team is currently developing a medical protocol
and further recommendations."
