Am I eligible?

Eligible hospitals are acute care inpatient hospitals and children's hospitals enrolled in the New Jersey Medicaid program and whose CMS Certification Number (CCN) falls into one of the following ranges: 0001-0879, 1300-1399, and 3300-3399.

Requirements for Acute Care Hospitals

Acute care hospitals, including cancer hospitals, critical access hospitals, and short term general hospitals, must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to receive Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program payments:

  • Have a CCN with the last four digits ending in the series 0001 – 0879 or 1300 – 1399.
  • Have at least 10 percent Medicaid Title XIX (fee-for-service and managed care) patient volume.
  • Be a primary health care facility where the average length of patient stay is 25 days or less.

The State of New Jersey will use the hospital Medicaid cost reporting fiscal year (i.e., hospital fiscal year) to verify the hospital patient volume and length of stay calculation. This will align the eligibility information to the hospitals’ cost reports. For the 10% patient volume calculation, the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program reporting period is a continuous 90-day period within the most recently completed hospital fiscal year.

Requirements for Children's Hospitals

Eligible children’s hospitals have CCNs in the 3300 – 3399 series. Children's hospitals have no Medicaid patient volume requirements.
