Video Transcript: Health & Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard

New Jersey is facing a severe and chronic blood shortage.  Nine out of 10 people will need blood at some time in their lives due to illness, to treat an injury or during surgery.  To increase workplace blood donations, the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and Novartis Pharmaceuticals with support from other businesses and hospitals and blood banks have joined forces to create the New Jersey Workplace Blood Donor Coalition.  The Coalition’s goal is to double the number of donors to insure a stable blood supply for New Jersey’s daily medical and emergency needs.  Blood donors are needed year around.  And giving blood is easy.  It takes less than an hour and you’ll be helping others.  So please, give the gift of life.
