The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), in conjunction with
the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), sponsored
a two day workshop on August 19th and 20th, Making New Jersey
a Model for Patient Safety. Attendees had an opportunity to examine
the major patient safety issues facing our nation. Healthcare executives
from different states shared their states' successes and failures. Other
speakers presented literature reviews and discussed the complexity of
issues involved in voluntary and mandatory reporting of patient safety
incidents and near misses.
