Weekend Meals

Home-Delivered Meals Expansion Program - Under the federal Older Americans Act, funding is provided through the State Division of Aging and Community Services to the 21 Area Agencies on Aging for the provision of at least one hot meal per day to older persons (age 60 or older) who are homebound due to illness, incapacitating disability, or isolation. A meal may also be provided to the spouse or civil union partner, if it is in the best interest of the homebound older person being served. This federal legislation has now been supplemented with state legislation to provide nutrition services on weekends and holidays to eligible participants. Participants will be asked for a confidential donation to help offset costs, but in no event will service be denied to those eligible except for space limitations.

For additional information, or to apply for service under this program, please contact your Area Agency on Aging at 1-877-222-3737.
