Executive Director’s Report: Ms. Oates welcomed
Rutgers students and commented on collaborative efforts related to ethics
standards
for faculty,
preparation for a potential flu pandemic, plans for a state level meeting
for trustees, and enhanced articulation and transfer.

Presidents’ Council Report: Dr. Yaw described
the Presidents’ Council
priorities: articulation and transfer, alignment of P-12, capital needs,
and the budget policy statement.
Comments from Lucile Davy, Acting Commissioner, Department of
Education: Ms. Davy discussed priorities in the Department of Education
that her agency is coordinating with the Commission and with higher education
institutions.
Long-Range Plan Update: Deputy Executive Director
Oswald discussed plans for the update of A Blueprint for Excellence and
summarized the
work of the
Senior Operating Aid Task Force. Commissioner Graham summarized the work
of the Capital Planning Task Force.
Fiscal 2008 Budget Policy Statement Discussion:
Chairman Downes and Ms. Oates
reported on initial conversations with Presidents’ Council representatives
and noted the work session to be held following the meeting.
Report on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System
(IPEDS):
Research office staff Gary Nigh and Kris Krishnan reported on
training and other
efforts
conducted recently to improve data quality and consistency in IPEDS.
Great News Web Page: Tom Hagaman of the Commission
staff demonstrated the Commission’s new “Great News” web
page that highlights significant accomplishments and events in New Jersey
higher education.
Readoption of Regulations: The Commission adopted
without change the community college personnel regulations and the residency
regulations
for purposes of tuition that were published in the New Jersey Register.

EOF Update: Commissioner Collins reported that the
EOF board will adopt application deadlines and a fiscal 08 budget policy
statement
in October.

HESAA Update: Commissioner Smith reported on increased
volume in various student financial aid areas.

Comments from the Public: Dr. John Pace, president,
Association of New Jersey County College Faculties, commented
on the importance of the state plan.
