Commission on Higher Education Installs New Members, The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education installed two new members and elected a new vice chairman at its meeting on Thursday, July 14, 2005. Sworn in yesterday were Dr. Ralph Izzo, president and chief operating officer at Public Service Electric and Gas Company, and a new student representative, Ms. Fatima Chak, a student at Montclair State University. Commissioner Kevin Collins was elected vice chairman, and Chairman Francis Mertz appointed Dr. Izzo to the Commission’s Executive Committee. Both members will serve in their respective capacities until June 2006. In other action, the Commission awarded $337,000 from the Higher Education Facilities Trust Fund to The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey for the South Jersey Aviation Research Park-The First Steps. The college will serve as lead agency in a large-scale partnership among academe, industry, and government to build on South Jersey’s potential for economic growth.
