Support Team for Addiction Recovery (STAR)- Jail Expansion Program

10 STAR providers received funding to focus specifically on providing case management and recovery support services to individuals who were recently released from jail. This initiative exists in Atlantic, Bergen, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean counties

STAR Jail Expansion program is intended to connect with the individual before being released from jail to establish initial contact and prepare for follow up. STAR case managers, and recovery support specialists work directly with their partners in the criminal justice system to encourage participants to continue with the program and help them succeed in their recovery.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING 

Supportive housing and individualized care management services are available for adults, 18 and older, with an Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and in recovery from an OUD who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Care Management provided based on consumers' expressed interests and needs.  The Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) will provide the housing subsides.

There are 5 counties in New Jersey in which the supportive housing with care management services are available: Monmouth, Mercer, Burlington, Camden, and Atlantic County.

RECOVERY HOUSING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH AN OPIOID USE DISORDER (OUD)

Eligible consumers are 18 years and older, who are homeless or at risk of being homeless or discharged from treatment.  There will be 3 recovery houses; one in each region, Southern, Northern and Central Jersey.  The recovery houses will have a Class F certificate (Cooperative Sober Living Residence) from the NJ Department of Community Affairs.

Services provided include: a supportive environment for those who have an OUD; Peer to Peer Support; environment that will be free from alcohol, illicit drugs and non-prescribed medications.  Staff will also be available to provide support and leadership.  A minimum of 5 people reside in each house at one time.
