Harvey to Present State’s Efforts to 300 High School and College Students
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
NJ is the First State in the Nation for Sexual Assault Program Statewide

New Jersey Attorney General Peter C. Harvey will talk with 300 high school and college students about the “Triple Threat of Violence” in New Jersey and nationally, focusing on domestic violence and sexual assault. The most recent Uniform Crime Report shows despite a reduction in crime overall in New Jersey, there is an increase in domestic violence and sexual assault, including among the elderly and young people.

Harvey will present to Bergen County high school and college students, as well as employees of Bergen County.

  • From the North
    (Via Garden State Parkway)-Take Exit 165, turn right (west) on Ridgewood Road, then right onto Ridgewood Avenue (crossing over Route 17) and continue to Paramus Road. Turn left onto Paramus Road and continue approximately 2 miles to college, proceed around jug handle to main entrance.
    (Via Route 17)-Turn right off Route 17 onto Ridgewood Avenue (west) to Paramus Road. Turn left onto Paramus Road and continue as above.
  • From the East
    Take Route 4 (via George Washington Bridge from New York City) to Paramus Road, Paramus. (From the east, Paramus Road is approximately 3/4 miles past Route 17 intersection). Turn right onto Paramus Road and proceed north for approximately 2 miles to College entrance on right side of Paramus Road.
  • From the South
    (Via Garden State Parkway)-Take Exit 160 (Passaic Street). Turn left onto Passaic Street. Continue over Route 4 onto Paramus Road (Passaic Street becomes Paramus Road north of Route 4 overpass). Continue north about 2 miles on Paramus Road to college entrance on right.
    (Via Route 17)-Take Century Road, second exit to the right, proceed around clover leaf over Route 17 onto Century Road (west). Continue to Paramus Road and turn right onto Paramus Road to college entrance on right.
  • From the West
    Take Route 4 to Paramus Road, Paramus (exit under overpass). Turn right onto Paramus Road and proceed north for approximately 2 miles to college entrance on right side of Paramus Road.
  • By Bus
    Regular bus service is provided to the Bergen Community College campus by two new Jersey Transit routes. The 756 Englewood BCC bus stops on campus at both the Megastructure and East Hall. The 756 schedule is coordinated with the college¹s schedule and provides direct service to the college across Bergen County. The 163 Ridgewood - New York bus stops on Paramus Road at the main entrance to the college and provides direct service from Southwest Bergen County. For schedules, contact the BCC Information Center at 201-447-7200 or the Bergen County Transit Information Center at 201-488-0840.

355 Main Street in Hackensack, Between Berry & Passaic Streets
(Diagonally across from the YMCA, on the corner of Main & Passaic Streets)

  • From Route 4: (Either Direction) - Take the Hackensack Avenue exit (SOUTH) - which turns into River Street. At the traffic light before McDonald's, turn right onto Passaic Street. Drive one block, cross Main Street and continue. The Learning Center is located immediately on the left.
  • From Route 17: (Coming from Paramus and Points North) - Take Route 17 SOUTH to Route 4 EAST. Then, follow the directions FROM ROUTE 4 above.
  • From Route 17: (Coming from Route 3 and Points South) - Exit Polifly Road, pass the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights Hotel on your right-hand side, and travel to the traffic light on Essex Street. Turn right onto Essex Street. The Bergen County Courthouse will be visible straight ahead of you. Bear left at the Courthouse onto Main Street. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street.
  • From Southern New Jersey via the Garden State Parkway - Take Exit 160 going NORTH (just after the Bergen Toll Plaza.). At the foot of the exit ramp, bear right onto Passaic Street. Continue on Passaic Street for 3 miles (about 9 traffic lights) to State Street in Hackensack. Cross State Street and continue for 1/2 block. The Learning Center is immediately on your right-hand side, at the corner of Passaic and Main Streets.
  • Via the New Jersey Turnpike - Take Exit 18-W to Route 80 WEST. Stay in the LOCAL LANES, to Exit 66, to Hudson Street. Turn left at the traffic light onto Hudson Street. Hudson Street turns into Main Street at the Courthouse. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street. FROM NEW YORK Take the George Washington Bridge. Cross over the bridge onto Route 80 WEST. Stay in the LOCAL LANES, to Exit 66, to Hudson Street. Turn left at the traffic light onto Hudson Street. Hudson Street turns into Main Street. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street.
  • Directions to the Parking Lot - Enter the parking lot from Passaic Street or Berry Street. The lot is between Main and State Streets behind the Learning Center. Be sure you do not park in the parking spaces in the parking lot that is immediately behind the Main Street merchants.
