Emil J. Bock was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on October 25, 1926. He attended the public schools of Bayonne and Union College. Prior to joining the New Jersey State Police he was an electronics instructor. He was also a veteran of World War II. Trooper Bock resided in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey.

Trooper Bock enlisted with the New Jersey State Police on September 17, 1950 as a member of the 38th Class. He was assigned to Troop "A", Berlin. His service with the Division was characterized by loyalty, fearless performance of duty and faithful and energetic devotion to the principles of the New Jersey State Police. On April 20, 1951, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the New Jersey State Police of the time, Trooper Bock submitted an official request for permission to be married on June 23, 1951.

Trooper Bock died on May 26, 1951 as a result of motorcycle accident.

At 6:00 p.m. on May 26, 1951, Trooper Bock was on motorcycle patrol on Route 41 South, two miles north of Berlin in Berlin Township, Camden County. His motorcycle struck the rear of a motor vehicle that had made a left turn through an island opening directly in front of him.

Trooper Bock was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained a fractured left leg, fractured left wrist and left ribs; fractured jaw and possible fractured skull. He was taken to the Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, where he passed away at 10:25 p.m.

Trooper Bock served 6 months with the New Jersey State Police.

Trooper Bock was survived by his parents, two sisters, a brother and his fiancée. He was 25 years old.
