Notice of Proposed Rule Adoption
N.J.A.C. 5A:4, Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery

The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has proposed for readoption with amendments N.J.A.C 5A:4 that establishes the rules and eligibility criteria for the interment of New Jersey Veterans and eligible dependents in the State’s Veteran’s cemetery.

The proposed rules with amendments clarify veterans’ and their dependents’ internment applicability requirements and eligibility criteria. Additionally, the proposed rules with amendments clarify funeral director’s requirements to ensure that a funeral service, committal service, burial and/or bronze marker order can proceed without delay, therefore avoiding any unnecessary stress to the bereaved family. Finally a new chapter was added that established the general rules and administrative and operational requirements for disinterment.

As the Department has provided a 60-day comment period on this notice of proposal, this notice is excepted from the rulemaking calendar requirements, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 1:30-3.3(a)5.
