Command Sergeant Major Earnest Williams

Command Sergeant Major Earnest Williams was appointed as the State Command Sergeant Major, New Jersey Army National Guard, April 29, 2017.

Command Sergeant Major Williams joined the United States Army September 30, 1985, and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he obtained the Artillery Military Occupational Specialty. CSM Williams served at U.S. Army Garrison Bamberg, Germany; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Camp Pelham, Republic of Korea, and Fort Drum, New York.

In 1994, CSM Williams enlisted into the New Jersey Army National Guard where he has held several positions including Ammunition Team Chief, Gunner, Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Operation Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major. From 1994-2004, CSM Williams served with A Battery, 3-112th Field Artillery in Morristown. From 2004 to 2005, CSM Williams served in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with B Battery, 3-112th Field Artillery in Lawrenceville. From 2005 to 2006, he served with the Service Battery, 3-112th Field Artillery in Morristown. CSM William served from 2006 to 2008 with G Company, 250th Brigade Support Battalion in Morristown. From 2008 to 2009, CSM Williams served a second tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2-102nd Cavalry. From 2009 to 2011, CSM Williams served with the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3-112th Field Artillery in Morristown. CSM Williams served from 2011 to 2012, with B Battery 3-112th Field Artillery in Toms River. From 2013 to 2015, he was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3-112th Field Artillery in Morristown. Most recently, CSM Williams served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 57th Troop Command in Atlantic City.

CSM Williams military and civilian education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeants Course, and the Sergeants Major Academy. CSM Williams has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Leadership.

CSM Williams awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with two Silver Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with three M Devices and the Silver Hourglass, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon third Award, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon fourth Award, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
