Dear Carol,
Thank you so much for making the DVD of my Dad's interview! Thank you also for your kind and heartwarming words about my Dad. He is sorely missed.
Having this recording of him is actually quite comforting. He not only tells his story, but he shows a range of emotions that are ccaptured on the DVD and that bring him close to me again.
So, thank you.
I hope you will accept this small token of appreciation for the museum. I wish it could be more.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Barbara Pepe

Comments: I wanted to thank the gentleman at the Sea Girt museum so very much for adding my parents Frank and Win Reilly to your museum collection. Dad died 20 years ago. He would have been thrilled to finally get more public acknowledgment for his contribution to the hedgerow cutter. My siblings took Win, age 95, to the museum last summer. She was tickled pink to see the classic shot of her sitting on the sofa during WWII holding a large framed photo of Frank on her lap. They were married down in South Carolina, where he was sent for advanced training as part of the Essex Troop. He was due to get out on December 8, 1944. But the night before, the news told about Pearl Harbor. I grew up with all the war stories and have so much respect for what our NJ veterans endured in a war that had to be fought. Thank you so much for giving my mom the thrill of her life. I just ordered a copy of your Tribute to Veterans book for her. All the best.

Dear Mrs. Fowler
I wanted to take a few moments to send along my sincere appreciation to you and all others who are associated with the museum and the Oral History Project.
It was refreshing to see that the State of New Jersey, {my home state}, was remembering those who served in such a profound way.
I commend and salute al of you for taking the time and making the effort to preserve our stories and the history surrounding our service to our country.
Mrs. Fowler a very special thank you to you. You are a terrific host and you made my brother and I feel very relaxed and welcomed.
What a great Museum, absolutely wonderful displays, very informative details and all of the individual displays are easy to see and read.
Again thank you.
God bless you all and keep up the great work you are doing.
Sincerely
Robert J. Roswell

YOU DID A TERRIFIC JOB CAROL!!!! My father couldn't stop saying how wonderful you were all the way home! We and our whole family are so thankful.
NY Times / Star Ledger / Bernardsville News:
Just today I returned from a very special event where my father gave a personal, video recorded Oral History to be sent to The Library Of Congress.
It was recorded at the National Guard Militia Museum in Sea Girt, NJ.
My father, John Musum was a Merchant Marine (whose branch of the military sustained the GREATEST loss of life) during WWII. A list of questions about that historic time (attached) were posed by The Director of the Center, Carol Fowler. I was riveted by every one of them and my father's profound answers. The one that struck me MOST was when she asked about what happened right after the War. My father explained now it was their job rather than transport the critical supplies to the front for the war effort; the Merchant Marines were the ones who were charged with returning the German prisoners of war back to their home country.
I was so moved when my father explained these prisoners, stationed in many of the southern States were now about to disembark on ships from New York harbor. When they pulled out of our harbor in NY, these German prisoners of war who were confined in the bottom of the ship begged to be allowed to come up to the deck of the ship just TO BEHOLD OUR STATUE OF LIBERTY EVEN FOR A MOMENT AS THEY SAILED OUT OF OUR COUNTRY AND BACK TO GERMANY.
Enough said.

Hi Carol,
Thank you very much for the VHS tape – I watched it Friday- I thought you did a great job interviewing my Dad. My mom and dad wanted me to tell you “Thank you” also for everything. My dad went over my brother’s house last week and played the dvd for him, my sister in law and my nieces. They really enjoyed it, so thank you so much for letting my dad tell his story. There was a lot that I never knew about his time in the service until he told his story to you. I’m very proud of him – Carol thank you again - Karen

Dear Carol,
You don’t know how much I appreciate the videotapes you so professionally put together. For years I have been planning this project & suddenly it is a reality. I can’t thank you & Dave enough for being so patient, so thorough & so knowledgeable in this subject matter. Our children & grandchildren will treasure these tapes for years to come. For me you have made my career complete & knowing that these tapes will be part of our American Heritage puts a warm spot in my heart. My deepest thanks to you, to Dave & to your organization.
