The Retired Officers Association (TROA) is giving $1,000 scholarship grants to dependent children of guard, reserve, and active-duty personnel for the 2001-2002 school year. To be eligible, a student must be under the age of 24, working on a first undergraduate degree, and be a dependent child of a service person - enlisted, warrant officer, or officer. Application is by the worldwide web only. To apply, go to http://www.troa.org. Look for the "Scholarships" on the opening web site page and follow the instructions. Deadline is midnight, March 1, 2001. Winners will be notified in May. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
ELIGIBILITY:
An applicant must be a high school senior or college student working on his or her first undergraduate degree, and under the age of 24. An applicant must be planning to attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student in the fall of 2001. SELECTION:

If chosen as a semi-finalist in late March, the applicant must send a certified transcript and verification of SAT (or ACT) scores and a copy of the sponsoring parent's recent "Leave and Earnings Statement" to: TROA, Scholarship 200, 201 N. Washington St., Alexandria. VA 22314-2311 If a computer is not available at home, an applicant should go to the school counselor's office or public library.
