On July 28, 2001, Acting Governor Donald T. Di Francesco named Brigadier General Robert V. Paschon of Tom's River to serve as the Deputy Adjutant General of New Jersey. In his new position, General Paschon will fill the second highest military office within the State Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and share responsibility for commanding the more than 10,000 citizen-soldiers proudly serving in the New Jersey Army and Air National Guard and the recently re-activated New Jersey Naval Militia. The Department also has responsibility for managing the three Veterans Memorial Homes (long term residential care facilities located in Paramus, Menlo Park (Edison), and Vineland), the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, and various other military and veterans programs including the presentation of New Jersey Distinguished Service Medals to our many veterans throughout the state. Brigadier General Paschon was born on April 23, 1939, in Rahway, New Jersey and graduated from Roselle Park High School in 1957. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Upsala College, East Orange, New Jersey, in 1963. He continued his education at Seton Hall School of Law, Newark, New Jersey and received his Juris Doctorate in 1968. In 1970, he received certification as a Certified Public Accountant. The General also completed Squadron Officers School in 1971. General Paschon began his military career by enlisting
in the New Jersey Air National Guard in August 1961. He received his
commission as a Second Lieutenant in September 1964 and served as
Budget Officer, 108th Tactical Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air National
Guard, McGuire Air Force Base. He rose through the ranks and was promoted
to full Colonel on December 15, 1983. From July 1989 to March 1990
he served as the Assistant Adjutant General (Air). The General's civilian work experience includes three years as an attorney with the law firm of Giordano and Halleran and more than 30 years as a partner in the law firm of Paschon and Feurey. Brigadier General Paschon and his wife, Karen, have
four children, David, Mary, Michael, and Noelle.
