Christmas Arrives Early

West Trenton, New Jersey –  Staff Sgt. Arthur Joseph Valenzuela-Bradley, II (left) and Sgt. 1st Class Bill O’Hara (right); both of the 1-150th Army Aviation Battalion, New Jersey Army National Guard, stationed at Mercer County Airport; stand amidst the 159 presents that they collected and delivered to the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey in Trenton on Tuesday, December 18.  This is the second year that Staff Sgt. Valenzuela-Bradley has headed the toy drive.  The Battalion has been sponsoring a toy-drive for the Society since 1996.  Early in November, Staff Sgt. Valenzuela-Bradley got a Christmas wish list of Mercer-Trenton area children from the Society.  The children, whose ages ranged from newborns to 17 year-olds, asked for such items including clothing, art supplies, books, stuffed toys, and even a Playstation 2.  With the assistance of the military email system, he posted the list and waited for the commitments to roll in.  The response, judging by the pile of donated presents, was overwhelming.  Every child’s wish list was fulfilled, including the Playstation 2, and the amount of presents filled up a New Jersey Army National Guard 5-ton truck.  As a result, 159 area children were able to look under their Christmas trees and see that Santa Claus, with the assistance of the New Jersey National Guard, has made their Christmas a little brighter.
