Consolidated Logistics Training Facility proposed for Lakehurst/Fort Dix

Lakehurst, NJ - Today, Major General Paul J. Glazar, Adjutant General of New Jersey announced that the New Jersey National Guard, in coordination with the Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Station, will begin preliminary operations this week to locate a site for a proposed new training and maintenance facility in the Lakehurst/Fort Dix area. Surveyors, engineers, and planners will be examining areas on Lakehurst and Fort Dix, primarily along the Route 539 corridor, north of Route 70.  An environmental assessment is currently being prepared for the proposed Consolidated Logistics Training Facility.

The proposed state-of-the-art facility will provide parking and storage for the N.J. Army National Guard’s tanks and armored vehicles and other equipment used by their soldiers for weekend training and periods of active duty training. It will also incorporate maintenance facilities where soldiers can perform both high-technology training and necessary repairs on vehicles and equipment. The facility is being located close to the Fort Dix ranges where the tanks, artillery, and other weapons will be used. If approved, the site will consolidate some current operations at Fort Drum, Bordentown, and Fort Dix.

The firm of Adams, Rehmann & Heggen Associates from Hammonton, NJ will be doing the initial planning and environmental assessments. Architecture and engineering is by the firm of Jordan, Pease, Andreychik & Klemen of Raritan, NJ. Individuals or agencies with questions about the proposed project or current operations can contact the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs project officer, Mr. Dean Arrighi, at 609-530-7133 or via E-mail at arrighi@njdmava.state.nj.us.
