Slide Show & Lecture - E. Kenneth Hoffman HOLMDEL, NJ - On Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m., the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation will host a slide show and lecture by photographer, professor of communications, and Vietnam Veteran E. Kenneth Hoffman entitled, Creating the “Vietnam Interactive Portfolio” Web Site, at the Vietnam Era Educational Center in Holmdel. Ken Hoffman of Morristown, NJ was a photographer and film director for the Department of Defense in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. During that time he took 2,000 pictures of Vietnamese civilians, particularly children, in the war-torn country of Vietnam. These make up his personal portfolio of images from Vietnam. To preserve these photos as documentary material recording that era in Vietnam’s history, Hoffman has created a self-guided multimedia presentation called the Vietnam Interactive Portfolio accessible through the Internet. Today, Hoffman is an assistant professor of communications, teaching photography and film production at Seton Hall University. A former associate producer for WNET Channel 13, Hoffman worked as a film editor in New York and has made two documentaries. Hoffman says, “Photography doesn’t lie. It captures what people are thinking through their behavior as long as people are being themselves.” Lecture attendees are
asked to RSVP one week prior to the event to (732) 335-0033. A donation
of $5.00 per person is suggested. The Vietnam Era Educational Center
is located adjacent to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial off the
Garden State Parkway at exit 116. The Educational Center open Tuesday
through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Regular admission is free for
all veterans and active-duty military personnel. Regular adult admission
is $4.00; student and senior citizen admission is $2.00; and children under
10 are admitted free.
