Apaches Land At Trenton-Mercer Airport Two of eight AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters landed
today at the Army Aviation Support Facility #1, New Jersey Army National
Guard, located at Trenton-Mercer Airport.
The aircraft are assigned to the 3-229th, 18th Airborne Corps, which is headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C., and were deployed to war-torn Kosovo for peacekeeping. The Army Aviation Support Facility was chosen because its Guardsmen are trained in helicopter maintenance and specifically the AH-64. This is because in 2004, the Facility will be including the Apache Attack Helicopter into its inventory and the personnel there are trained to fly and maintain that aircraft. Currently UH-60 Blackhawks, UH-1 Hueys, and OH-58 Kiowas are flown out of the Facility.
