New Jersey Army National Guard Escorts Children Aiding Families Of Sept. 11 Attack

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The New Jersey Army National Guard will be escorting a group of students from the Scotch Plains and Fanwood High Schools at approximately noon on June 4 to New York City to donate money to the New York City Police Department victims of the Sept. 11 attack.

Two HUMV's from the 250th Signal Battalion, New Jersey Army National Guard located at the Westfield Armory will provide escort support for the students from New Jersey to New York City and back.  Since Sept. 11, the 250th Signal Battalion has been fulfilling Homeland Security missions throughout the state guarding bridges, tunnels, and airports.  On June 4, as part of the New Jersey Army National Guard ongoing mission supporting community activities around the state of New Jersey, they will be back on some of the same roads in support of the New Jersey high school students.  The funds will be delivered to the New York City Police Department Emergency Services Unit at 21st Street, between Second and Third Avenues.
