National Guard Soldiers Provide Water For American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” Events Members of the 50th Main Support Battalion will be at the Relay for Life events being held at the Parsippany High School, Parsippany, and Hillsborough High School, Belle Mead. They will be providing the water for the events using “water buffaloes” as they are commonly known in the Army. Water buffaloes are water trailers that contain 400 gallons of drinking water. This will ensure plenty of water for the walkers and runners participating in the event. According to the American Cancer Society, the Relay for Life is an over-night event to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and ACS programs. During the event, people gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Support of other Relay for Life events will be given by members of the 250th Signal Battalion at the North Hunterdon High School, Annandale, on June 7-8 and at the South Hunterdon Regional High School, Lambertville, on June 21-22. |
