TRENTON, NJ - Brigadier General Thomas Sullivan and 10 members of the New Jersey National Guard will receive an American Flag, honoring the New Jersey National Guard’s service around the world, from Congressman Rush Holt in a Statehouse ceremony at 11am on 4 September 2002. The flag was flown aboard a C-130 aircraft of the 776th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron while it provided support for Operation Enduring Freedom missions in Afghanistan. It was presented to Congressman Holt to bring back to the National Guard personnel. The New Jersey National Guard has deployed around the world since September 11th in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle. Army and Air National Guard forces have performed Bridge and Tunnel security, Airport security, Nuclear Power Plant security and Combat Air Patrol missions in New Jersey. They have also deployed to various countries including Afghanistan, Oman, Germany and Cuba in support of the ongoing war on terrorism. The ceremony will be held in room R-103 in the Statehouse beginning at 11am |
