Vietnam Era Educational Center Hosts Author Lecture
On Saturday, February 19, at 1 p.m., the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will host an author lecture by Vietnam Veteran John R. Rhodes about his book, Rejoice or Cry: Diary of a Recon Marine, Vietnam 1967-1968. This program will be held at the Vietnam Era Educational Center in Holmdel.
In 1967, Pvt. John R. Rhodes was a Marine serving with the 3rd Recon (Reconnaissance) Battalion in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal as well as the Bronze Star with “V” device for valor. In his memoir, Rejoice or Cry, he documents through his personal diary the story of one individual's tour of duty as part of the Marine Corps elite. Rhodes is a retired Police Officer currently working for the Federal Government, and he resides in Iselin.

is suggested. The Vietnam Era Educational Center is located adjacent
to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial off the Garden State Parkway
at exit 116. The Memorial and Educational Center are maintained
through a partnership between the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial
Foundation and the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
The Educational Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Regular admission is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Regular adult admission is $4; student and senior citizen admission is
$2; and children under 10 are admitted free. |
