Freedom Salute Ceremony

 


      On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and Sept. 18, the New Jersey Army National Guard and its 50th Brigade will honor 215 Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry, their families and those who supported them during their mobilization and deployment to support the Global War on Terrorism at a Freedom Salute Ceremony at the National Guard Armories in Atlantic City, Freehold, Mount Holly and Woodbury.

 

      The public is invited to attend.

 

      The Mount Holly Armory Ceremony on 1670 Route 38 East, is scheduled for Saturday, 10:30 a.m.

 

      The Woodbury Armory's Ceremony, located at 658 North Evergreen Avenue, is set for Saturday, at 1:30 p.m.

 

      The Freehold unit's ceremony will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Freehold Elks Lodge on 1454 Main Street.

 

      The Atlantic City Armory's ceremony will be held at American Legion Post 430, off Route 30 in Absecon, on Sunday at 1 p.m.   The unit has also scheduled an open house at the post that starts at 9 a.m. that is free and open to the public.

 

      In addition to the troops' family members and friends, the event may include participation by Maj. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth – The Adjutant General of New Jersey, local elected officials, community representatives, senior members of the New Jersey Army and Air National Guard, veterans organizations and Family Program and Family Support personnel from around the state.

 

      The Freedom Salute Campaign is the one of the largest Army National Guard recognition endeavors in history, designed to publicly acknowledge Army National Guard soldiers and those who supported them during the President's call to duty for recent military operations.

 

      Media wishing to cover the event must register with Staff Sgt. Barbara Harbison (609) 530-7088 No Later Than 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.  Personnel and equipment will be subject to search.
