Flag Retirement Service Offered for U.S. FlagsThe New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is offering the citizens of New Jersey a Flag Retirement Service for their American Flags that are no longer serviceable to be displayed. We hope this program will complement the already outstanding flag retirement services run by the state's veterans organizations. Flags will be accepted at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Those received by May 31 will be burned at a local crematory and the ashes will be buried at the cemetery on Flag Day, June 14. This will be on-going program and flags received after May 31 will be retired at the next Flag Day ceremony. Any resident who wishes to have a flag retired, can drop off the flag at the chapel/administration building at the cemetery or can mail their flag to the cemetery. Business hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. In the near future, a repository will be in place at the admin building for evening and weekend drop off. The Brig.
Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery is the state's only state-operated
veterans' cemetery; dedicated in 1986, it is funded jointly by state and
federal governments and managed by the New Jersey Department of Military
and Veterans Affairs. You can find more information on the cemetery at
