Miss America To Visit The Veterans At The Memorial Home In Vineland
WHO: Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry
WHAT: The recently crowned Miss America will visit with the resident veterans and will be joined by Air National Guard members of the 108th Air Refueling Wing at McGuire AFB and the 177th Fighter Wing from Pomona , these Airmen have ‘adopted' the Veterans Memorial Home as an ongoing community service project

DETAILS: Jennifer Berry, 22, a resident of Tulsa, Okla, is an elementary education major at the University of Oklahoma, where she is listed on the President's Honor Roll. Berry 's platform issue is Building Intolerance to Drunk Driving and Underage Drinking. With the title of Miss America, Berry won a $30,000 scholarship to continue her education. Berry 's scholastic ambition is to obtain a Master's Degree in Education. Her career ambition is to be an elementary school teacher.

The Veterans Memorial Home at Vineland is the state's oldest operating veterans home having opened in 1899. It has provided residential and long-term nursing care to New Jersey veterans of every war and armed conflict since the War of 1812. It has three residential buildings serving up to 300 residents. A VA Screening Clinic, operated by the Wilmington VA Medical Center is located in the home. The home is conveniently located off Route 47 (Delsea Dr.) in Cumberland County. |
