The
OMS-7 placed fifth against all Army National Guard Organizational Maintenance
Shops throughout the entire country. Brig. Gen. Thomas Sullivan, Assistant
Adjutant General Army, New Jersey Army National Guard and Col. Ronald
Cefalone, the Director of Logistics presented the award to the shop. First
place went to the Unit Training Equipment Site in South Carolina. The
award recognizes active-duty, guard and reserve Army units that demonstrate
excellence in their maintenance programs.
OMS-7 was
also the AAME winner for the New Jersey Army National Guard Organizational
Maintenance Shop, as well as the National Guard Bureau Region 1B Competition.
The mission of shop is to support all organizations assigned to them by
the Surface Maintenance Office with quality and immediate maintenance
assistance. "OMS-7 supported various New Jersey Army National Guard
units following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center,"
said Chief Warrant Office 3 Laner. "In addition, the shop supported
all the Army Guard units deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle,
which supported New Jersey/New York Port Authority Police Department and
the New Jersey State Police at the bridges and tunnels going to and from
Manhattan." OMS-7 also supported the various security missions at
New Jersey's airports and nuclear power plants.
"As
part of it's routine maintenance support for the New Jersey Army National
Guard, the shop supported more than 80 domestic action and transportation
missions for Company B, 50th Main Support Battalion, totaling more than
84,000 incident-free miles," stated Chief Warrant Office 3 Laner.
