Manasquan Resident Collecting Stuffed Toys For Afghanistan/Iraqi Children
Photo Caption: Manasquan resident Caitlin Docker (center), a 16-year-old junior at Manasquan High School, poses with Maj. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth (left), The Adjutant General of New Jersey and his wife Linda (right) in front of a Beanie Baby drop-off box at the National Guard Training Center at Sea Girt. Caitlin, whose mother is a retired Army lieutenant colonel, chose as her National Honor Society Project to collect 1,000 Beanie Babies by Veteran's Day. The stuffed toys will then be shipped to Iraq to deployed New Jersey Army National Guard Soldiers so they can be distributed to Afghanistan/Iraqi children. Caitlin began the project at the end of May with donations from Sea Girt Elementary, Allied Health Vocational High School and Monmouth County 4-H and has already collected 500 Beanie Babies. The collection will continue next week at Manasquan High School and local recreation centers for anyone who wishes to donate Beanie Babies. |
