Media Advisory: Scouts to Pace Flags for Memorial DayWho: 1,000 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Brownies What: Placing flags at graves of New Jersey veterans When: Friday, May 23, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. Where: Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery More than 1,000 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies from troops throughout New Jersey will be decorating the graves in honor of Memorial Day at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Scouts will begin arriving at 4:00 p.m. and start placing a flag on each grave at 5:00 p.m. After the more than 25,000 graves have been decorated, the scouts will enjoy a cookout style dinner. This community service will be commemorated with a scouting patch. The cemetery was named in honor of BG William C. Doyle on January 3, 1989. Since its opening, more than 25,000 veterans or family members have been interred.
