Freedom Salute For New Jersey Army National Guard Troops Back From Iraq
WHO: Troop C 5-117th Cavalry; leadership of the New Jersey National Guard; supporters, family and troops
WHAT: Freedom Salute to honor returning Soldiers and their families
WHEN: Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Westfield Armory, 500 Rahway Avenue, Westfield N.J.
DETAILS: Ceremony will be held to recognize seventy-five Soldiers of Troop C 5-117th Cavalry upon their recent return from duty in Iraq. The extended deployment of 15 months in a combat theater was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Family members of the Soldiers will also be recognized for their support on the homefront during the lengthy separation. The ceremony will include the retirement of the Troop's historical guidon (military unit flag). The Troop will be re-designated as a Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition unit.
