Perth Amboy resident Cristopher Ortiz enlisted in the New Jersey Army National Guard at Fort Hamilton Military Entrance Processing Station on July 21.

     Pvt. Ortiz, a graduate of Piscataway Vo-Tech High School, has been assigned to Detachment 3, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd and 113th Infantry Battalion located at the National Guard Armory in Woodbridge.  After completing Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, S.C., he will attend Advanced Individual Training as a Food Service Specialist. Food Service Operations prepares all types of food according to standard and dietetic recipes, as well as ordering and inspecting food supplies and preparing meats for cooking.
