Sicklerville resident 2nd Lt. Tony Oliveras graduated from the Transportation Officers Basic Course, Fort Eustis, Va., on Dec. 18, 2002. 2nd Lt. Oliveras is a platoon leader assigned to the 253rd Transportation Company, New Jersey Army National Guard, headquartered at the Army National Guard Armory at Cape May Courthouse. The eight-week school covers all aspects of transportation operations including load and convoy planning, rail operations, and water operations, which covers everything from tug boats, barges and Fast Sealift Ship - the ships that are used to transport tanks, trucks, and other equipment when the military deploys by water. The school also covers general subjects including military writing, ethics, and counseling.
