Veterans To Receive Distinguished Service Medal At West Orange Memorial Day Ceremony
WHO: Brig. Gen. (Ret.) William John Marshall, III will present the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal and Gary Englert, Director Division of Veterans Services for the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the annual Township of West Orange Memorial Day Ceremony
WHAT: New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal awarded to four West Orange residents.
World War II - Robert E. Pollard
Vietnam War - James E. Murphy and Keith E. Nicol, who is the most decorated of this year's honorees and will receive the Distinguished Service Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. Nicol's previous awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

DETAILS: Over the preceding seven years, the Township recognized 276 combat veterans at the annual event. With this year's class, the total number honored rises to 280 and bolsters the Township's claim to the title of “ New Jersey 's Most Decorated Community” according to Mayor John F. McKeon.
In addition to an Honor Guard and rifle salute mounted by volunteers from the West Orange Police Department, the Township's ceremony will include music provided by ‘Theater Under the Stars' and students from West Orange High School 's award winning music program.
