Pittsgrove Guardsman Re-enlists In Afghanistan

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- Pittsgrove resident Spc. Jacquelyn Bertrand, a member of the 250th Personnel Services Detachment deployed in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VII, re-enlisted in the New Jersey Army National Guard for an additional six years.

 

     “I feel extremely honored to be able to serve my country,” stated Bertrand, who has been assigned to the 250th Personnel Services Detachment since January 2005 and has eight years of military service. Bertrand, who is stationed in Manas ( Kyrgyzstan ), stopped at the 250th's Headquarters in Afghanistan to reenlist before going on leave.  Under the National Guard's Selective Retention Incentive Program, Bertrand will be collecting a $15,000 tax-free extension bonus.

 

     “She is doing a fantastic job for us at Manas working with the Army Liaison Office,” observed 1st Lt. Monique Smith, Bertrand's commander.
