Petrera Receives Army Commendation Medal

Clifton, NJ - Major John K. Petrera, of the Headquarters, 42nd Infantry Division Support Command (DISCOM), Somerset, N.J. of the New Jersey Army National Guard, has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal. He was awarded the medal for his meritorious service while serving as the Health Service Materiel Officer for the DISCOM.  The medal is awarded to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties on behalf of the Army National Guard.
 Petrera is the Health Service Materiel Officer with the DISCOM.  He has been a member of the military for more than 16 years.
 Maj. Petrera and his wife, Johanna, daughter of Ralph Flach of Clifton, reside in Butler.   
 He is a graduate of Lakeland Regional High School, Wanaque, N.J. and received his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. and his master’s degree from Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, N.J.
