Vietnam Era Educational Center Hosts Exhibition About Vietnam War Letters
On Saturday, June 17, at 1 p.m., the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will host an exhibition and lecture presentation entitled “The Vietnam War in Black and White: History in Original Manuscripts.” Guest speaker Stuart Lutz will feature from his personal collection letters concerning the Vietnam War, which were written by Presidents and other prominent people in America during the Vietnam Era. The program will be held at the Vietnam Era Educational Center in Holmdel.
Stuart Lutz, of Short Hills, owns a firm that buys and sells historic documents and letters. He has collected Vietnam War letters for several years now and continues to add to his collection. Authors of the letters to be displayed and discussed include Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon and Gerald R. Ford, Senators William Fulbright, Ted Kennedy and Barry Goldwater, Generals William Westmoreland and Frederic Davison, My Lai Massacre defendant Lieutenant William Calley, antiwar poet Allen Ginsburg, and Vietnam Veteran John Kerry in 1971, then representing Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Inc.
Lecture attendees are asked to RSVP to (732) 335-0033. A donation of $5 per person is suggested. The Vietnam Era Educational Center is located adjacent to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial off the Garden State Parkway at exit 116. The Educational Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Regular admission is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel. Regular adult admission is $4; student and senior citizen admission is $2; and children under 10 are admitted free. |
