Governor Corzine, Senator Lautenberg, Congressman LoBiondo To Speak At Vineland Memorial Home Dedication

A dedication ceremony will be held at the New Jersey Vineland Veterans Memorial Home to mark the addition of a new wing.  New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine, Senator Frank R. Lautenberg and Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo will be the Guest Keynote speakers in addition to Maj. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth, the Adjutant General of New Jersey.  The ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 9 at 11 a.m. at the Vineland Home, 524 North West Boulevard in Vineland, N.J.

The ceremony will include a helicopter flyover, plaque unveiling, and ribbon cutting.  The new wing houses an assisted living section, dedicated Alzheimer's patient unit, an enclosed courtyard, computer room and more.

The Division of Healthcare Services of the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs operates three Veterans Memorial Homes in the state. These homes provide long-term care for nearly 1,000 New Jersey veterans.  The homes are conveniently located in Paramus (northern New Jersey), Menlo Park (central New Jersey), and Vineland (southern New Jersey), providing effective service throughout the state.

Resident accommodations are assigned based on the level of care required and vacancies. The facilities are open to veterans who were honorably discharged, to the veteran's spouse and to spouses and parents of members of the military who were killed in action during a period of war.  Preference is given to applicants who were state residents for at least two years immediately prior to application for admission.

Media wishing to attend this event must contact Lt. Col. James Garcia or Kryn Westhoven at (609) 530-6942 by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8.
