Doyle Veterans Cemetery To Dedicate Columbarium And Public Assembly Area On Veterans Day
WHO/WHAT: A new 3,200 niche Columbarium and public assembly area will be dedicated as part of the State of New Jersey's annual Veteran's Day ceremony at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery. The ceremony will include a flag Retirement Service, wherein the ashes of nearly 2,000 flags will be entombed.

WHERE: 350 Providence Line Road in Wrightstown
Details: The $2.6M construction project provides a new public assembly area and above ground niche columbarium. The funding for the project was provided through the Veterans' Administration – Grants for State Cemeteries Program.
The public assembly area includes an outdoor amphitheater with a backdrop constructed of Langhorne stone, bearing the seals of the five Armed Services. The area will serve as the venue for future public gatherings at the cemetery such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
The Columbarium, located in section P, will contain nearly 3200 niches for above ground inurnment of cremated remains. The design of this facility will mirror the Columbariums in section F and G previously opened in 2004.
The Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery is New Jersey's sole state-operated veterans' cemetery. The Doyle Cemetery is the busiest state veteran cemetery in the nation, 2008 Interments totaled 2,839. For more information on the cemetery, go to www.state.nj.us/military/cemetery/index.html |
