New Jersey Air Guard Retires Oldest Tanker In The Air Force
WHO/WHAT: The 108th Air Refueling Wing will hold a retirement ceremony for its last KC-135 “E Model” tanker. After the ceremony, the refueling plane, which was commissioned during the Korean War and remained in use in for support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, will be flown to Dover Air Base for inclusion in the Air Mobility Command Museum. The plane was among the first aircraft of its kind in the Air Force. The 108th ARW has upgraded its aircraft to the R model.
WHERE: McGuire Air Force Base
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m.
Retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. Flight to Dover aboard retiring aircraft to follow. Return to McGuire Air Force Base on Air Force transport by 4:30 p.m.
