Blue Star Memorial Marker To Be Dedicated

At NJ Veterans Home In Vineland

WHO/WHAT: The Garden Club of New Jersey, Inc., and the New Jersey Blue Star Memorial Highway Council will dedicate a memorial marker at the Vineland Veterans Memorial Home.

The ceremony will also commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Blue Star Drive, a program started here in New Jersey in 1944 with the cooperation of the New Jersey Garden Clubs and the then-New Jersey Department of Highways.

They planted thousands of dogwoods and beautified six miles of Route 22 – Route 29 at the time – to honor the men and women who served in World War II. The program has since grown to cover thousands of miles of the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii and to honor all the men and women who have served, are serving or will serve in the Armed Forces of the United States. The ceremony will include presentations by the Delsea Regional High School ROTC color guard and the Vineland Homes' facility choir.

WHEN: Friday, November 6 at 11 a.m.

WHERE: 524 North West Boulevard, Vineland 08360-2895
