TAG at Operation Jump Start

Sixteen members of the 108th Civil Engineer Squadron pose for a group photo before they deployed to Al Udeid, Qatar in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  CE also has members deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

In fact, Tech. Sgt. Brian J. Belk was featured in a photo in the Ali Air Base, Iraq, base newspaper. According to the story, on Sep 16, the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (ECES) received a call that power to a part of the base had been knocked out.

A team was sent to the scene and discovered that the three main power feeds had been cut by a contractor. “Most contractors would have stopped digging after hitting one 4,180-volt power line since the explosion and sparks are very noticeable and down right scary,” said Lt. Col. Richard Edwards, 407th ECES Commander. “This brave soul continued on until he hit all three lines.”

After the discovery, civil engineers repaired the lines and restored power.
Edwards observed that the dedication of the Active, Guard and Reserve civil engineering Airmen demonstrated how teamwork can get the job done.
