SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: Acceptance To obtain the

for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to
acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their
Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office): As a work leader of the unit, the incumbent performs the following coaching, facilitating, and mentoring duties: Ensure that the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated from the commander through the supervisor to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services. Articulate and communicate to the team the operations and program assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion of work supporting goals. Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques; provides advice on work methods to ensure maximum efficiency of workers; implements best practices and operations procedures defined by other organizations; and assists the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of solutions. Lead the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workloads and tasks among team members in accordance with operations requirements and at the direction of the supervisor. Train or arrange for the training of team members in methods and techniques of JTAC and equipment operations as well as working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects related to the successful completion of mission readiness goals and objectives. Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor’s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. Serve as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members. Maintains program reference materials in support of JTAC and Combat Mission Ready (CMR) qualification requirements. Prepares communications network feasibility reports to determine recommended voice/data connectivity and required equipment based on combat environments. Represent the team in dealings with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g., updated computer hardware and software availability, use of overtime or compensatory time), and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise (e.g., JTAC availability for currency, recent ‘off-the-shelf’ technology advances and latest Tactics, Techniques and Procedures). Report to the supervisor on a regular basis on the teams work (operational scenarios) problems in mastering tasks and work process, and individual and teams training needs. Estimate and report to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects and tasks, and ensure that all team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of team goals and objectives. Research, learn and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products. Lead the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made (e.g., in work methods, processes and procedures). Approve emergency leave for up to three days; eight hours or less for medical appointments; and/or other types of leave as delegated by management. Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or the commander. Communicate team consensus and recommendations to the supervisor on actions affecting team and individual awards, rewards and recognition. Inform employees of available employee benefits, services and work related activities. Intercede with the supervisor on behalf of the team to inform the supervisor of performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions, such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, tour of duty changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals. Performs the same kind and level of work performed by the team lead. Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training which demonstrates ability to understand, evaluate, and translate the needs of communications users into requirements; relate user requirements to existing technology, policies, priorities, costs and funding, and other supporting services required; identify and direct, or coordinate the actions required to provide needed services.
SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE: Must have 36
months of experience the following:
ABILITY to develop, recommend, and implement policies and plans.
ABILITY to review program for the development, expansion or modification services.
KNOWLEDGE of information systems policies, standards, program and project management procedures.
ABILITY to evaluate adequacy of training programs.
ABILITY to
coordinate with various activities to insure timely availability of material
equipment, and support requirements.
SUBSTITUTION
FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A maximum of 12 months
of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of
undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30
semester hours for 12 months of experience.
The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of
work of the position.
